comunque alla fine sto installando Debian con xfce, ho trovato anche i pacchetti per gli altri DE, al massimo passo a lxde. Pare che il problema (tra i DE che mi interessano) sia solo per lxqt

Si, con un po di pratica puoi installare e provare tutti i de che vuoi, ne esiste lunga lista, piu, un altra lista per ora piuttosto meno lunga di quelli che girano su wayland piuttosto che su xorg.

Poi con ogni de puoi in genere scegliere e configurare un compositor, compton, xcmpmgr ed altri, o nessun compositor.

Tutte cose da valutare/provare.

Io che non ho piu 20 anni personalmente tengo finestre senza ombre e nessuna trasparenza, e colori naturali per vedere di preservare le diottrie che restano, anzi, uso anche il servizio /usr/sbin/xflux, alla fine su linux ci lavoro tutto il giorno (e notte)

OT nell' OT :) Ieri arrivato un fulmine, io abito in terra rocciosa, terre pessime.

Entrato come smepre da presa telefonica, dentro al router ha passato un primo fusibile, poi ha elegantemente evitato i 2 scaricatori (proprio perche il router non ha alcuna terra) ed e' staltato al vicino trasformatore di rete:

Da li, non pago, e alal ricerca di potenziali piu bassi il fulmine ha raggiunto il PC, dstrutto un porta usb con tutti gli hub collegati, e distrutta una scheda cliente che era collegata all'hub.

Insomma un bel "cinematografo"

A disastro avvenuto, e varie figuracce fatte, ora ho provveduto e mi sono costruito un bel pannellino con scaricatori e fusibili, connesso alla terra dell'abitaizone. Dovrebbe aiutare.

notare che poi punta a cron , software deprecato da systemd : in parole povere nel 99% dei casi andrà a bucare qualche modem cinese gia bucato OOTB.

Poi quando esponi un ssh la prima cosa da fare è mettere una porta diversa, poi magari un fail2ban , chiavi pgp e praticamente sei a posto
 
NVidia è un po' meglio, Intel è ovviamente la più supportata;
comunque ora che Torvalds è passato ai Ryzen, si spera che migliori il supporto
 
meglio non roba recentissima, in ogni caso basta leggere qualche recensione sulle tante che vanno bene.

perchè non dovrei comprare il volla phone (senza AOSP ma con ubuntu phone installato)??
una ragione è che ho da poco fatto la follia di comprare l'ultimo htc uscito (e la risolvo in qualche maniera), ma a voi che altre ragioni vengono in mente?
 
Perche probabilmente non hai tutte le comodita che la gang android/google offre, a cui ti ben abitua e ti rende dipendente, o una p'arte di esse non funzionera'.

Arrivato portatile Tuxedo con i7 per mia moglie, linux preinstallato, tastiera italiana, funziona a meraviglia, ottima macchina.
