Il vantaggio che avresti in queta config è che se hai qualche gioco che non sfrutta il crossfire puoi usare la singola 290X e hai più potenza in confronto alla 290 ;)

Ho capito. In ogni caso fino a quando non farò il crossfire avrò un po' di potenza in più da utilizzare :P

Se mi posso permettere a cosa ti serve una seconda 290?

Premesso che avendo un processore i5 2500k avresti 2 linee a 8x 2.0 quindi le castreresti. E che prob con un i5 a 4.3 saresti cpu limited
 
Beh certamente non comprerò la seconda 290/290X l'anno prossimo.. Nel frattempo potrò aver già cambiato PC (probabile). In ogni caso considera che i miei slot PCI-E sono 3.0, non dovrebbero aver un maggior bandwidth rispetto ad un 2.0 8x? (ovviamente considerando 8x)

Sono di seconda genreazione. QUelli di terza sono stati introdotti con gli Ivy bridge.
Io, ad esempio, con un Ivy sulla mia scheda avrei x16 3.0 mentre con il mio 2700k rimangono 2.0
 
Ho fatto altre prove di OC... Ho messo su il bios della Sapphire 290X (che sembra effettivamente più "stabile") e installato Trixx beta. Ora, sempre a +100mV sono arrivato a 1130... +125mV stabile a 1150/1500 (forse ancora un pelo affinabile)... (purtroppo però devo usare trixx in contemporanea con AB per dare i +50mV al bus delle ram se no non mi reggono i 1500)

Ora sto provando i 1200, sono già a +180mV ma continua a dare artefatti... Non so se salire ancora coi mV o fermarmi a 1150 (che comunque è già buono)...
 
ho messo le schede in cross, ma è normale che gpuz nn mi legge temp e mhz, inoltre lanciato valley e crasha, ma per caso c'è bisogno di installare lo stesso identico bios su entrambe??

ok ho rimesso lo stesso bios alle schede (l'ultimo sapphire) e il cross funziona finalmente, questo è un test valley con tutto stock:

what are the dangers of flashing a R290X BIOS on a R290A card. I purchased an XFX 290A card and after reading about this possibility I flashed the R290X BIOS and was able to unlock the additional Shaders and ROPs.
Could you tell me whether I actually have an R290X card which was labelled as R290?
Why would this happen by the way?
Also, are there any risks? As far as I can tell, there aren't any because I am running an R290X card with a R290X BIOS.

Hey , this seems to be the question of the week.
Here’s the short explanation.
1. Voids your XFX 2 year warranty.
2. You cannot Unlock the shaders, they are cut off by laser
3. The 290A’s were just failed versions of the 290x, Basically AMD tests every Hawaii GPU and if the GPU can take the 290x speeds, they Pass. If not, they get downclocked, lessened shaders, and tested again at 290A speeds.
Forcing a 290A to be a 290X works for about 2 weeks, some claim longer, but I don’t believe them. This month alone there are over 50 units permanently bricked that we’ve had to reject.
290A’s are not 290X’s, the flash will not stand and I won’t be able to help you.

Ma, penso sia più un "tirare l'acqua al proprio mulino"... Mica possono dire che flashandola a 290X va tutto bene, se no non ne vendono più delle loro 290X... ;)
Poi dando un'occhiata su OCNet ci sono un sacco di utenti che ce l'hanno a 290X da più di 2 settimane, e le hanno messe pure sotto torchio... Nessuno che gli si sia guastata per il flash (a meno di casini da parte loro)... penso sia normale che rispondano così... è come la storia di chiedere all'oste se il suo vino è buono.... non so se mi spiego... :D




Nel frattempo io penso di aver trovato il mio limite in OC :(

1150 core, 1500 mem, +135mV core e + 50mV mem, PL +50%
Temp max (ventole su medio): 51° core, 66° VRM1, 43° VRM2

Posto i risultati (così magari possono tornar utili a qualcuno per confronti):

1) Si concordo con te, io (TOCCANDO FERRO) sono 2 settimane e mezzo, quasi 3, che l'ho unlockata... E tanta altra gente di OCnet non ha alcun tipo di problema ed è anche un mese e passa che è sbloccata la scheda, anche sotto OC più o meno pesante. Inoltre come fa XFX a sapere che 50 schede sono tornate indietro e sono brickate per quel motivo? Cioè perchè sono state sbloccate? Se la scheda è brickata non credo riescano a capire cosa le è successo.

2) azzo su Metro fai 10 FPS medi più di me che la ho a stock O.O Tu la hai unlockata a 290X? Perdonami ma non ricordo :asd:

EDIT: non ho capito su OCnet che cosa ne facciano di Serial Number e Part Number della scheda

si, sbloccata a 290X con le frequenze postate sopra ;)

penso (se ho capito bene) che raccolgano i serial per fare statistica di quali siano sbloccabili e quali non lo siano, così da sapere se si possono sbloccare leggendo solamente il serial sulla scatola...
 
Ah ok, ma credo pure abbiano delle teorie sui Part Number, magari per lo stesso motivo.. In ogni caso ho chiesto, vediamo che rispondono :)

Comunque quanti FPS medi fai a Metro con frequenze stock?
