@ ElFo!: Oh, well, I've made some research around and finally I've found this page that compare PET, TOEFL and IELTS.
Basically the first two are quite similar, but basically PET is made of 3 parts (instead of 4), it tests the British English (not the American one) and more important it lasts forever, while TOEFL expires after two years only… :doh:
If that can comfort you, also my University require us to pass this examination that is given by an private school (with main site in Cambridge), but for us the first try is paid by the univ., while you have to pay it by yourself if you don’t pass it at the first time. :D
@ elwood: your idea about the talking with English mother language people (mmm… in reality I don’t think that is the exact translation of “madrelingua”, but who cares :D). Unfortunately I don’t think to be able to find one of them in my little town with two hundred inhabitants… :look:
But I’ll do a little bit of practice this summer, when a family of far parents from Texas will come to visit our country (and spend one day in Turin). :)

in fact you can learn english in every country you go, cause in every country there's people knowing english well...
the only country you can't do it is Austria : I' ve been there for two weeks, talking regularly in english to all... they comprehended my questions, but answered in german... anybody can tell me why ? Is anybody here from Austria?
