Per lanciare fsck l'unita' non deve essere montata, nel tuo caso lo stai lanciando su /dev/sda1 che pero' e' montata (perche' quasi certamente e' la partizione dove hai installato il sistema).

Comunque non ho capito problema, da quelle righe che riporti pare che tu riesca a loggarti e persino a lanciare comandi (fsck in questo caso), quindi il server e' up e running o non potresti nemmeno entrare.

ps. ma l'IP nel primo messaggio e' il tuo vps? Se si, sei raggiungibile senza problemi ed sshd e' regolarmente in ascolto sulla porta 22.

No, riesco a farlo solo da rescue mode

Quella modalità rescue dovrebbe servire, se ho capito bene, ad avere una connessione ssh su un server che "vede" i dischi del tuo VPS, sui quali effettuare operazioni. E' molto probabile, quasi sicuro, che quel /dev/sda1 sia il server su cui è montata la / del server "esterno", non del tuo vps.
Cerca, con fdisk -l, con cat /proc/partitions e con df -h a capire quale disco contiene quali dati, prova a montare su una directory vuota il disco su cui era originariamente montata la / del tuo VPS e, se il mount non va a buon fine, fa' un fsck su quel disco

Visto che riesci a leggere la /var/log, guarda che errore c'è nei file /var/log/boot.log, /var/log/messages e /var/log/dmesg
Nel caso in cui quel /dev/sda1 sia montato su /mnt/sdb1, cosa possibile, smonta /mnt/sdb1 e riprova con fsck, se il problema è causato dal disco

Comunque si, l'ho reinstallato dopo aver fatto un backup.. solo che ora non mi legge più gli innodb :(
