sistema operativo sparito su ssd

buongiorno,
come da titolo volevo avere qualche informazione in più su questa cosa che mi è successa..
non direttamente a me ma ad un amico..

sostanzialmente sul suo portatile con un ssd Corsair F120, ho installato sistema operativo software etc etc..
ho fatto i vari tweak per ottimizzarlo e tutto..

torna da me dopo un paio di settimane dicendomi che non si avvia..
controllo il disco..totalmente vuoto.. mi da "spazio non allocato" :grat:

ho fatto controlli con hdtune, crystal disk mark, as ssd bench e tutti mi danno che il disco è buono/sano..
nessuna segnalazione di errore..a sto punto come è possibile che abbia perso l'intero os?
l'utente mi ha garantito che non ha fatto boiate, anche perchè lo usa per lavoro e fa molta attenzione..
a sto punto sarei per reinstallare tutto da capo, ma vorrei essere sicuro di non avere lo stesso problema nuovamente in futuro..
qualcuno sa consigliarmi qualcosa o ha già avuto a che fare con problemi simili?

Provo con il boot da usb con le utility di hirens, e il disco è perfetto, ha il 66% di usura, ma nessun problema...
Stacco, provo su altro computer e mi chiede di inizializzare il disco...

In pratica è come se fosse stato formattato a basso livello !

Il computer che lo ospitavo, viene usato al 99% come fileserver, ci sono pochi programmi installati e viene mantenuto pulito, quindi le ipotesi sono due:

1) Errore hardware di qualche tipo all'interno del ssd chelo ha resettato tutto !
2) Un nuovo malware/virus/altro che ha resettato l'ssd !

Controllerei eventulai aggiornamenti Firmware del SSD
Controllerei se il cavetto si è scollegato!
Prova a lanciare Gparted da una live di ubuntu e vedi che cosa puoi fare (salvare dati, info ecc.)
Hai usato software per i tweak?

allora..per i controlli..ho usato live di ubuntu..poi windows..poi anche live di programmi che formattano e anche li mi vedeva il disco come nuovo diciamo..smontato l'ssd dal suo alloggiamento e fatto i test sul mio banchetto..quindi hardware totalmente diverso
i tweak no solo a livello di configurazione dell'os (defrag disab indicizz disab e cose simili..)

mmm..dici che con un firmware più aggiornato starei tranquillo?

Si, verificato che il disco non presentava problemi, non mi è rimasto altro da fare che reinstallare tutto !

Il mio disco in questione era uscito con il firmware 002, ma è sempre stato aggiornato all'ultimo disponibile !

Proverò a sentire da crucial, sono tuttavia propenso all'ipotesi di qualche tipo di malware non rilevato che ha azzerato il disco.

Computer as follows:

Intel CPU 3220T
16 Gb memory
4 HD 3 tb
1 M4 SSD 128 (last firmware)

The computer in question is a home server, 24/7, with a few programs and with constant maintenance, a few days ago, during normal use, a BSOD appeared:

Restart: Missing Operating System ...
I turn off and reboot: Missing Operating System ...
Unmount, Clean it from dust, mount: Missing Operating System ...
I try to boot from usb with utilities Hirens and the disc is perfect, it has 66% of wear, but no problem ...
Try on another computer, and asking me to initialize the disk ...

Si, verificato che il disco non presentava problemi, non mi è rimasto altro da fare che reinstallare tutto !

Ci sta pure un malware, ma ormai credo che l'unica copsa che puàò fare è vedere se c'è un firmware nuovo aggiornare e provare un nuova installazione, se non va forse Il disco ha problemi...

io ho un 840 120gb e un sandisk 64gb e per ora non ho riscontrato questo problema...

io ho altri 2 m4 che utilizzo..se succede anche a quelli vi aggiorno..
ma da quanto leggo mi sembra di capire che è un problema abbastanza recente sugli ssd..
che possa essere davvero un malware a sto punto? :shocked:

Thank you for emailing us today. Data can happen at anytime that there might be a power issue. Kind of like if you have aUSB flash drive and you write something to it and then pull it out you can corrupt the drive. Here are a couple things that you should try before we talk about formating the SSD.

In most cases, your SSD can be returned to normal operating condition by completing a power cycle. The process will take approximately one hour.

We recommend you perform this procedure on a desktop computer because it allows you to only connect the SATA power connection, which improves the odds of the power cycle being successful. However, a USB enclosure with an external power source will also work. Apple and Windows desktop users follow the same steps.

1. Once you have the drive connected and sitting idle, simply power on the computer and wait for 20 minutes. We recommend that you don't use the computer during this process.

2. Power the computer down and disconnect the drive for 30 seconds.

3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 at least one more time.

4. Reconnect the drive normally, and boot the computer to your operating system.

A laptop computer will also work, but you’ll have to connect the drive and navigate to the system's BIOS menu. (Please refer to your system manufacturer’s documentation on how to access the BIOS.) Allowing the drive to sit in the BIOS will improve the odds that the power cycle will work. For laptops, we don’t recommended using a USB enclosure powered via USB. In addition, Apple users must hold the Option key while they power on the system (with the SSD installed). This will boot the Mac to the Startup Manager screen. The Startup Manager screen works like the BIOS screen on a laptop, in that it gives the drive power without any data throughput.

1. Laptop users will need to be in the BIOS menu, or Mac Startup Manager as stated above. The computer will need to stay powered for 20 minutes. We recommend you don’t use the laptop during this process.

2. Power the computer down and disconnect the drive for 30 seconds.

3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 one more time.

4. Reconnect the drive normally, and boot the computer to your operating system.

Garbage Collection Steps

The behavior you are describing is consistent with deleted cells not being cleaned from your drive. This can result in reduced performance or even complete lack of response from the SSD.

There is a feature built into our SSDs called Active Garbage Collection. Letting Active Garbage Collection run on the drive for an extended period will clean these cells and restore the SSD to a healthy state.

To do this on your PC or Laptop, you will need to let the SSD idle for 6 to 8 hours.

In a PC, simply disconnect the SATA cable from your SSD and only leave the power cable connected. After switching your PC on, the SSD will be in an idle state but still have power so Garbage Collection can function. Leave the PC powered for the 6-8 hours.

In a laptop, power on with the SSD installed and enter your system BIOS (please refer to your system manufacturer’s documentation on how to access the BIOS.) Leave the laptop in the BIOS menu for the 6-8 hours.

Following this process, your drives functionality and performance should be restored.

To prevent the SSD performance degrading again, you can make adjustments to your power settings:

- Go to Control Panel
- Go to Hardware and Sound
- Go to Power Options
- Select Change Plan Settings
- Select Change Advanced Settings
- Make sure the 'hard disk' field is set to ‘never’ (Laptop users select 'battery and power adapter').
