Problema Dolby 5.1 Ubuntu 9.04

Salve a tutti! :)
Ho un problema con ubuntu, chiedo il vostro aiuto :inchino::inchino:
, non riesco a sentire la musica con il dolby 5.1 con vlc e con qualsiasi altro programma, funziona come un 2.0:cav:.
il dolby va (dopo molti test) e quando eseguo questo comando :

da system>preferences>sound ho selezionato ALSA per tutte le voci.

quando cerco di aggiornare il sistema sia da update manager che da terminale mi dice:

nel dispositivo '/cdrom/' e premere invio

e non mi fa proseguire l' installazione :cav::cav::cav:
